At Japanese schools, "school plays," where students perform theater and music, are held pretty much every year. As students practice for this for a very long time up until the day of the event, it is a huge event for students.
As Ebichu has the concept of "Being middle school students forever," their live performances and events are just like "school plays."
Boasting the pride that they are at the summit of the school play, they call themselves "The king of school play."
